Monetization Errors Cut From 40% to Under 5%, Launch Capacity Quadrupled
Allen Media Group / Allen Media Digital: VP, Head of Global Content Operations

The Situation
Allen Media Group owned a vast portfolio — production companies, broadcast networks, local stations, streaming platforms, and the Weather Channel. All of it needed a digital content superhighway. But the end-to-end FAST channel operation across all those company verticals wasn't really owned by anyone.

The result: 500+ FAST channels running with ad inventory that wasn't getting filled. The same ads appearing on repeat. Ad triggers not firing. A full 40% of potential revenue was getting lost to untracked errors on a given month. Nobody had visibility into what was going wrong, and nobody was accountable for fixing it.
What I Did
With a team of three people who worked on "everything streaming," I re-leveraged the existing technology stack to build a largely automated monitoring system across all 500+ FAST channels. No new platforms. No additional overhead cost. The system was designed with humans in the loop — my team received automated reports multiple times a day flagging any channels that weren't monetizing correctly based on sophisticated business rules.

That meant we could act fast. Instead of discovering problems days or weeks later, we had same-day visibility and could direct traffic to the right vendor or internal team to address the issue immediately.

The technology wasn't the problem — it was already there. The problem was that nobody had aligned it with workflows that could surface issues at scale and route them to the right people. That's what we built.
The Numbers
-
Revenue lost to monetization errors: 40% → under 5% in 30 days
-
Launch capacity: 10 → 40+ channels per week
-
87% reduction in ad fill errors
-
Zero additional cost — built with existing team and technology
-
Freed capacity from error-chasing directly enabled the quadrupled launch rate
What This Looks Like as a Service
If your channels are running but you don't actually know whether they're monetizing correctly — if your team is spending their time chasing errors instead of launching — this is what a Blueprint for Profitability or Integration Partner engagement looks like. I find the visibility gaps, build the automated systems to surface them, and free your team to do the work that generates revenue.
