Media Companies Don't Get to Choose Between Scaling and Reinventing

They have to do both. Here's how it ended.

"I had the pleasure to work with Rebecca for four years at Pluto TV, through the awkward stage of searching for product-market fit all the way through our hypergrowth phase and acquisition by Viacom. Rebecca cares deeply about her work and the people she works with and I recommend her highly."

$4M saved in 60 days. Four supply chains consolidated in 90.

A major merger had created two companies trying to operate as one — four separate pipelines, duplicated vendor contracts, no unified metadata between broadcast and streaming. Costs were running way ahead of the merger model. As SVP and Head of Global Digital Content Operations, I led a 40-person organization across the U.S. and Latin America to unify it.

  • $4M in hidden waste eliminated in 60 days

  • 4 supply chains → 1 integrated pipeline in 90 days

  • $3.2M vendor fee avoided by building the fix in-house

  • $844K in redundant contracts canceled

From employee #42 to a $340M exit.

There was no content operation — no supply chain, no metadata framework, no scalable process. I was hire #42 and built it from scratch as Director of Content Operations, from Series A through hypergrowth to acquisition readiness.

  • Throughput tripled: 350 → 1,000+ assets/day

  • Vendor spend cut 50% in 90 days

  • 200 content providers aligned on metadata in 8 weeks

  • Led operational diligence for the $340M Viacom acquisition

Monetization errors cut from 40% to under 5%.

Launch capacity quadrupled.

Allen Media Group owned production companies, broadcast networks, local stations, streamers, and the Weather Channel — but the end-to-end FAST channel operation across all those verticals wasn't owned by anyone. Ad inventory wasn't getting filled. The same ads were running on repeat. Ad triggers weren't firing. As VP and Head of Global Content Operations, I took an existing three-person team, re-leveraged existing technology, and built an automated monitoring system across 500+ FAST channels — no additional overhead cost.

  • Monetization errors: 40% → under 5% in 30 days

  • Launch capacity: 10 → 40+ channels per week

  • 87% reduction in ad fill errors

  • Zero additional headcount — built with existing team and technology

Delivery time down 35%. Throughput up 25%.

A processing vendor needed to increase throughput and position itself as a top-tier partner for major AVOD platforms. As Operations Advisor, I consolidated redundant processing steps, added schema validation gates, and tightened alignment with Pluto TV's delivery expectations.

  • Delivery time reduced by 35%

  • Throughput increased 25% with the same headcount

  • Secured preferred-vendor status with Pluto TV

Confidential Client

A clarified operational identity and a KPI framework tied to financial targets.

A creative-media firm struggling with project reliability and execution strain. The client/talent mix was mismatched, causing chronic delivery problems. As COO Advisor, I performed a root-cause assessment, facilitated a strategic pivot to high-value work, and secured an external vendor ecosystem for commodity tasks.

  • Reduced internal strain

  • Clarified the operational identity

  • Built a KPI framework tying daily activity to financial targets

A legacy physical library digitized for multi-platform distribution.

A heritage network sitting on a physical media library that couldn't support modern digital distribution. As Digital Content Manager, I designed the foundational metadata schema and supply chain workflows to transition from tape-based operations to a modern, digital-first distribution model.

  • Digitized the network's core assets

  • Enabled the first wave of multi-platform distribution

  • Set the stage for long-term operational efficiency
